Derrick® Technology Improves Dry Chrome Foundry Sand Production

Background

An American owned foundry sand producer near Rustenburg, North West Province in South Africa conducted test work at Derrick’s Testing Facility in Buffalo, New York on dry screens for the accurate sizing of fine fractions of foundry sand for their own consumption.

Solution

After successful testing, the chrome producer built a new chrome foundry sand plant. The ground-breaking flow sheet incorporated a number of new technologies, including four Derrick double-deck dry screening machines (equipped with Derrick Polyweb® urethane screens) to produce very tightly sized chrome sand fractions for subsequent blending according to client requirements. By taking advantage of Derrick fine screening technology, the customer is supplying their clients with closely classified products.
