Derrick has successfully increased the tonnage and recovery of copper through the implementation of the Stack Sizer^® in the grinding circuit. Through this implementation, Derrick has helped copper miners improve copper recovery and reduce grinding circuit costs, which ultimately leads to increased profits for the concentrator operation.

The Derrick Stack Sizer machine is used to replace hydro-cyclones in a closed grinding circuit. In one instance, four 5-deck Stack Sizer screens processing 520 tons of copper ore per hour replaced hydro-cyclones enabling the concentrator to experience increased capacity throughput of 17%, a reduced circulating load from 200% to 100%, less power consumption per ton, and consistent size distribution of the undersize product reporting to floatation. A similar operation realized an increase in copper recovery of 40% after installing Derrick Stack Sizer machines in its grinding circuit.
